New Online Players Guide © 2006,2007

If you are new to online poker then you probably have some questions. Rest assured that the questions you have are common. Hopefully this article will answer them for you. I have organized this to address the most common questions first. Let's get started.

Is Online Poker Fair And/Or Safe?

The short answer is yes. And any poker site I recommend on this site certainly is. I don't recommend sites unless I've observed them, played them and/or transacted money on them. The long answer is that these sites make money off a "rake" or small percentage of each pot. This is the same way that U.S. casino poker rooms operate. They make much more money from having thousands of people play a fair and safe game than they would by cheating a few people and getting a bad reputation.

Finally, even though online poker sites operate "off-shore", many of the largest sites are publicly-owned and traded corporations. The rest (with no exceptions that I know of) are licensed and governed by the country in which they reside.

How Do I Set Up An Account?

It's really easy to sign up on a poker site, and you don't have to give credit card or other financial information when you sign up. You only need to provide that sort of information when/if you want to play for money. Most poker sites just request the same information you would need to register for anything: Name, Address, Phone, and Email. Plus you will select a username and password.

When you decide to play for money you simply click on the cashier button and deposit accordingly. I would put screen shots in here, but these sites are made to be easy as pie to register at, so just go do it.

We can't put everything on here because it's all in the book. Publishers are picky about giving away the store... it sucks..:
