The best no-limit ring games for a tight/aggressive player - a Performance Poker player - would consist of 40% or more preflop callers and 15x big blind pot sizes or higher (Although 50% and 20x plus is optimal). This is quoted in most poker rooms as a Players/Flop (P/F) percentage. To put this in straight English, if you watch a .5/$1 table, for instance, for 20 minutes, you would want to see at least 4 players seeing most flops and the final pot size should be around $20 or more. If that is the case, then you have found a good table to play.
On tables like this, you can camp, wait for quality cards, and get paid for your efforts. Tables with 6- or 7-big blind pots and low preflop percentages are tables that are full of tight/aggressives passing their blinds around for hours. In other words, they're crappy tables for making money. You want preflop limpers. You want people limping with A9 and calling raises with A9 suited so they can call you down when you have AJ and AK. Also, you want large pots. That means the players are willing to take swings at each other, call down big bets and bluff at pots. If you're only a very tight preflop game (say 20 starting hands), when you hit one, you want it to be paid off.
This selection criterion is best for Performance Poker players. Keep in mind, however, that loose preflop play doesn't mean everyone at the table is a chump. You're there, and you're no chump, right? Play every hand, _ every player, in a vacuum. Just know that, generally, you're playing against weaker preflop cards than you would play yourself.
If you are playing some other style than tight/aggressive, you may need different table-selection criteria. That's great! Just know what YOUR table selection criteria are and follow them to the best of your ability.
