Instructions for completing the STYLES QUESTIONAIRE

  • For each question read ALL FOUR possible answers before selecting one.
  • Select the ONE answer from each question that you MOST identify with GENERALLY.
  • Understand and accept that your answers should most accurately identify your current beliefs or observations, not what you WISH were true or how you think you "should play". You answers may change over time, and your style profile will give you pointers on how you might change your future game for better performance.

Question 1.
One reason I play poker is to win some money, although I'm careful about not losing money while I do it.
I mainly play poker to have fun and socialize.
I often play poker for the "action".
I almost never play poker for fun or relaxation; I come only to win.
Question 2.
I tend to see lots of flops because I can often push other players out of the pot with bluffs.
I mainly play profitable hands and I try to play them in the most profitable way every time.
I tend to call in on lots of hands because you never know what might happen.
I only play quality cards preflop and I'm willing to lay them down if I think I might be beaten (even though he might be bluffing).
Question 3.
Risk is a part of poker that I calculate and control.
"Better safe than sorry".
When in doubt, bet or raise to find out.
I often call even if I think I might be beat because you never know.
Question 4.
I prefer to win small amounts most days rather than have large swings.
I don't play poker to "take advantage of people".
I consider poker a personal testing ground or a 2nd job.
I like check/raise bluffing to see how others react.
Question 5.
When I don't have an edge I fold, but when I do have even a small edge I attack mercilessly.
Other players never know what I have because I can raise with any 2 cards.
Even if I think I have the other guy beat on the river I sometimes call instead of raising just to be sure.
I rarely raise or reraise without a near nut hand.
Question 6.
Most players don't even notice me at the table, but after playing for a while when I DO raise then tend to fold.
Other players tend to tighten up when I start slinging chips at them or catch someone on the river.
I generally do not socialize when I play; I prefer to concentrate.
Most players tend to like me when I play against them.
Question 7.
I almost never bluff. I prefer to call when I'm unsure of where I stand.
I prefer to take as little risk as possible.
I sometimes take big losses from repeated bluffs.
Bluffing is an important skill when used with attention to position against certain opponents.
